Six researchers from the Public University of Navarra (UPNA) win Talgo award for Technological Innovation

The price giving ceremony that took place the 29th May 2012, was presided by the minister of Development, Ana Pastor.

The project is leaded by Francisco Falcone, with the participation of Mario Sorolla, Antonio Lopez, Jesus Villadangos, Jose Javier Miguel Astrain and Beruete. The ambient intelligence environment created by the researchers in this project allows to control the presence of people, the light and temperature in a coach, as well as other important data and information that can be used by a train users through a wireless network. This network, which aims to improve the energy efficiency or the comfort of the travelers, is supported by software that collects data through different sensors and antennas and sends them to a central computer located at the head of the train.

The jury of the award is formed, among others, by the secretary general of Science, Technology and Innovation and president of the CDTI, Roman Arjona, the president of RENFE, Julio Gómez-Pomar, the president of CSIC, Emilio Lora-Tamayo, the president of the CEOE, Juan Rosell, the president of Cotec, José Ángel Sánchez Asiaín, and the secretaryship of Research, Development and Innovation, Carmen Vela.
